Saatchi Gallery 2017.
I was delighted to be invited back to the wonderful Saatchi Gallery to spend another 3 days (23rd-25th Oct) working with the public to create two artworks, one A1 size which went into a draw for one of the participants to win, the second about 6 metres long.
Last year I was concerned at first that we would not have many people brave enough to take part, I couldn't have been more wrong! At the end of the three days nearly 500 people had taken part, and had a thoroughly great time printing and then drawing a house from their imagination. We had tree houses, igloos, lighthouses, huts, thatched cottages, mansions - every possible 'house' you could think of. The final artwork was magnificent and is due to go on diaplay in the gallery along with this year's work.
This year I got people to print an 'oval' and then draw a face. I had already piloted it on a small scale at my Devon Open studio - it was a great success ! as you can see from the photograph here.
I also again gave people a chance to paint a 'brick' on an A1 size drawing I had prepared of the Saatchi building itself.
The project was free to take part again, part of the wonderful education programme run at the Saatchi.
You can see other "People Participation artworks that I have done around the UK on my website here, and my work is on sale through galleries as listed on the home page.
Finished at last! The winner has been notified.
